After having  more  than  a  month, the Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Lady Hawks used the time off to rest and hone their skills as they came back sharp, rolling to an 11-3 mark and first place in the 2010 Mid-Winter Classic.

Three  Hawks  averaged  over  215  and two were named to the All-Tournament Team as UMES dominated the 14 team field.

Paula Vilas was the top average bowler of the event, posting a 220.33 in three games with a pin fall of 661.  She didn't bowl enough games to make the  All-Tournament  Team .  Martha  Perez and

Kristina Frahm both did, averaging 216.80 and 215.40 respectively, good enough for fourth and sixth place overall with pin falls of 1084 and 1077 respectively.

Anggie Ramirez was the only other Hawk in the top 25 of the 83 bowler field, averaging a 189.40 with a 947 total in five games.

UMES, now 56-18 overall, was 5-0 in team games with wins over Prairie View A&M (985-863), Stephen  F.  Austin (929-837), Valparaiso  (1000-955),  current  National  Champion  Nebraska (1114, 943) and Minnesota State Mankato (1040-1033).

The Lady Hawks also posted a 6-3 mark in Baker games.

On  the  opening  day  UMES  topped  Mississippi  Valley  State  (729-459),  Winston-Salem  State (750-593)  and  Alabama  State  (836-567)  and  dropped  a  pair  of  matches  to  Central  Missouri (CMU) (708-734) and MEAC rival Morgan State (785-827) to go 3-2 on the day.

Day three brought a 3-1 mark in Bakers.  They opened with a loss to Arkansas State (764-828) but quickly rebounded to win out, with victories over Alabama A&M (786 -725), rival Delaware State (901-786) and Central Missouri (771-695).

Overall, UMES tallied 12,098 pins, 188 pins better than the Jennies of CMU.  Delaware State was third, 239 behind the Hawks and Arkansas State was fourth.  Nebraska, Valparaiso, Minnesota State-Mankato, Alabama A&M, Morgan State and Stephen F. Austin rounded out the top ten.
