VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has announced an additional game to the men's basketball television schedule for the 2009-10 season.
Defending conference champion Morgan State will face last year's regular season runners-up South Carolina State during a nationally television matchup on Saturday, January 16 beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
The additional game increases the conference's regular-season men's televised games to 10. All games are slated to broadcast on the ESPN family of networks as a part of the MEAC's seven-year partnership.
The matchup is a change to the regular-season schedule which originally pitted Morgan State at Winston-Salem State and Coppin State at South Carolina State on January 16. The originally scheduled men's and women's matchups have been rescheduled for Monday, January 18 at the previously announced home venues.
The MEAC tipped off the 2010 basketball television schedule on Monday, Jan. 11 with men's and women's action featuring Morgan State at Hampton. The Lady Pirates earned their second conference victory of the season with a 74-37 victory over the Lady Bears. The MSU men's team rallied in the second half to defeat Hampton 73-63.
The addition does not affect the previously released television schedule which will highlight eight additional regular season men's games including the 2010 MEAC Championship Tournament scheduled to air on March 13 on ESPN2 beginning at 2 p.m.
The 2010 MEAC Basketball Tournament tips off March 8-13 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Coliseum in Winston-Salem, NC. For more information on the MEAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament, log on to www.MEAChoops.com.
