MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors

Florida A&M junior Jovana Blazeski was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the week, the conference announced on Tuesday. Morgan State's Macie Wyly earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Blazeski (OH, 6-1, Jr., Belgrade, Serbia) earned all-tournament honors after leading her team to a 1-1 mark at the Holiday Inn Stetson Invitational. The outside hitter was 40-of-91 (.296) from the floor and added three blocks, one ace and 28 digs. In a 3-2 loss to undefeated Southern Illinois, Blazeski posted 30 kills, 19 digs and two blocks.

Wyly (MH, 5-11, Fr., Houston, Texas) hit .343 (29-of-67) from the floor to aid the Lady Bears to a 2-3 mark at the Battle of Baltimore. Wyly totaled seven blocks (five solo), one assist and five digs for the week.

Other Top Performers:

Bria Brimmer (SCSU) totaled 82 assists and 13 digs at the Radford Invitational.

Ivanti Bush (MSU) was named to the Battle of Baltimore All-Tournament team after averaging 9.4 kills and nine digs per match.

Gazelle d'Artois (How) posted 44 kills and 24 digs to earn all-tournament accolades at the Liberty Invitational last weekend.

Christine Edwards (UMES) averaged 16.25 kills and seven digs per match and was named the MVP at the Runnin' Bulldog Classic.

Cassandra Joyner (DSU) tallied 33 kills, 13 blocks, and 14 digs to aid the Lady Hornets to a 2-1 mark at the Lafayette Invitational.

Nicole Kessner (NSU) earned all-tournament honors at the Virginia Tech Tournament after tallying 51 assists, 12 digs and four kills in three matches for the Spartans.

Bella Jade Romero averaged 11.86 assists and 2.21 digs per set and totaled six aces in four matches last week.

Adriana Vasquez (Ham) totaled 28 kills, 17 digs and four aces in four matches for the Lady Pirates last week.

Brittany Wynne (Ham) posted 27 kills, 17 digs and four assists for the Lady Pirates.
