MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors

Howard junior Gazelle D'Artois was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the week, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Taylor Montgomery earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

D'Artois (OH, 5-10, Jr., Newhall, California) posted 57 kills and 40 digs to lead the Lady Bison to a 2-2 mark last week. D'Artois earned all-tournament honors at the Bryant Invite after tallying 18 kills three blocks, three aces and 14 digs in a win over Bryant. She followed that performance with a .519 hitting percentage (15-of-27) two blocks, three aces and five digs in a non-conference win against Coppin State. For the week, D'Artois hit 25-percent from the floor and added four assists and eight aces during the four matches.  

Montgomery (MH, 6-6, Fr., Marietta, Georgia) averaged 7.3 kills per match and posted a .386 hitting percentage (22-of-45) to lead the Lady Bison to a 2-1 mark last week. Against Bryant, the middle hitter recorded 10 kills and a career-high 10 blocks. In a win over Coppin State, Montgomery posted 10 kills, while hitting 57-percent from the floor. She added seven blocks (two solo) and one assist in the victory.   

Other Top Performers:

Martina Ferrari (DSU) averaged 26 assists and 9.75 digs per match and earned MVP honors at the North Carolina Central Invite.

Aaryn Harrison (Ham) posted 11 kills, two blocks, two aces and four digs in a 3-1 win over Winston-Salem State.

Peri Ligons (SCSU) hit 32-percent from the floor with 11 kills and six digs in a 3-0 victory over Savannah State.

Bella Jade Romero (UMES) averaged 9.33 assists and two digs per set against Sacred Heart and Norfolk State.

Jade Sandford (SCSU) hit 47-percent from the field (9-of-17)  in a victory against Savannah State.  

Chelle Ticeson (B-CU) led the Lady Wildcats to a 1-1 mark last week with a total of 20 kills, five blocks and three aces.

Caylin Woodward (UMES) named to the Hampton Inn Salisbury North Invitational All-Tournament team after averaging 2.83 kills, four digs and one block per set in two matches for the Lady Hawks.

Brittany Wynne (Ham) tallied 32 kills and 15 kills to aid the Lady Pirates to a 2-1 mark last week.
