The Norfolk State women's cross country team turned in a fourth-place finish on Saturday at the William & Mary Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge. For the second consecutive week, sophomore Aurora Scott paced the team. Scott, the reigning MEAC Athlete of the Week, finished ninth in 22:15.40.
Toledo (23 points), W&M (43) and Navy (86) finished ahead of the Spartans (118). Ari Fisher of Toledo won the individual title on the 3.7-mile course with a time of 21:04.30.
Junior Jennifer Chichester finished 14th in 22:34.90, while NSU's third finisher, freshman Kellen Rutto ran a 23:43.50. Senior Tia Miles (23:53.40) and sophomore Jamia Hutto (25:08.50) rounded out NSU's top five.
Syeeda Gee, Candace Shoates and Chynell Gray also ran for the Spartans, but did not factor into the team score. Gee ran a 25:53.30, while Shoates and Gray posted times of 26:38.30 and 2:36.00, respectively.
The Spartans run at the Great American Cross Country Festival next Saturday in Cary, N.C.
