Maryland Eastern Shore men's cross country team hosted their second meet of the season Saturday with the Cappy Anderson Invitational.
The team placed eighth out of 11 teams with 238 points and an average team time of 31:28.35 in the eight-kilometer race.
Princeton placed first overall with 29 points and an average time of 25:31.39. Saint Joseph's had 38 points and an average time of 25:35.19, which was good for second place. Pittsburgh (25:10.71) and Penn State (26:20.19) were third and fourth with 96 and 104 points, respectively. Fifth place went to the Maryland Baltimore County with 150 points and an average of 26:50.04.
Junior Peter Sang placed first for UMES and 28th overall with a time of 26:20.67, which was his best of the season so far. Fellow junior Amon Kiprotich had a time of 27:19.35, which was good for 51st overall. The next UMES finisher was senior Solomon Kirongo with an 84th overall finish with a time of 29:23.71.
Junior Paul Jones-Burden was 101st overall with a time of 36:07.82. Freshman Terrance Burns and senior James Moore were 104th and 105th respectively with times of 38:10.20 and 38:47.12. Sophomores Damian Miles and Jermol Dix had times of 38:50.46 and 38:50.61 respectively, which were good for 106th and 107th places.
The men have off next weekend and are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Mason Invitational, held in Centreville, Va.
