Florida A&M christened their new Multipurpose Center and Teaching Gymnasium with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-18) win over Mercer, Tuesday evening.
FAMU (2-4) had a pair of Lady Rattlers to finish in double-digit kills with Jovana Blazeski with 13 and Maria Gomez with 11. Jessica Bond finished with a game high 32 assists and Blazeski finished with a team high 10 digs.
Mercer (3-6) was led by Libby Hansch with seven kills, followed by Rachel Urbelis with five. Chelsea Gebben tallied a team high 11 assists, while Nickie Halbert finished with 10. Ashley Skidmore garnered a team high 13 digs.
The Lady Rattlers will return to action against Florida International on Friday, Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m., in the opening round of the UCF Radisson Classic in Orlando. They will take on Southern Mississippi at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept 19, and will conclude the Classic on Sunday, Sept 20, against host team UCF.
