Lady Pirates Drop Two at Georgetown Classic

Georgetown beat Hampton 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-12) in the Lady Pirates' first match on the strength of 37 kills in 69 team attacks. The Hoyas had a .391 hitting percentage in the second set (13 kills, four errors, 23 attacks) and .364 (12 kills, four errors, 22 attacks).

Adriana Vazquez had five kills to lead the Lady Pirates (2-7), while Lina Cordoba had three. Vazquez also had two of the team's three service aces.

Lihi Elkayam had 11 of the team's 12 assists, and Vazquez had a team-high five digs on defense. Mianna Armstrong had four digs, while Ivana Suput recorded three.

Sara Manley led the Hoyas with 11 kills, while Lindsay Wise and Kortney Robinson each had eight apiece. Wise also led the team in hitting percentage at .727, going without an error in 11 attacks.

Ashley Malone had 31 of the team's 36 assists.

William & Mary took the second match from the Lady Pirates 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-15) thanks to a combined .273 team hitting percentage (34 kills, 10 errors, 88 attacks). The Tribe had a .348 hitting percentage (10 kills, two errors, 23 attacks) in the second set.

Aaryn Harrison led the Lady Pirates with seven kills, while Brittany Wynne added six in 27 total attacks to go along with two service aces. Elkayam had 14 of Hampton's 17 assists.

Suput had 16 of the Lady Pirates' 41 digs on defense.

The Lady Pirates will return to action Friday and Saturday, when they travel to Orangeburg, S.C. for the South Carolina State SpikeFest, where they will take on Providence, UNC-Asheville, Winston-Salem State and Wofford.
