Lady Rams Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision To UNC-Asheville

Winston-Salem State closed out the 2009 Lady Rams Volleyball Invitational with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-14) loss to UNC-Asheville on Saturday afternoon to drop to 1-9 on the season.

The Bulldogs held the Lady Rams to only six kills in the first set of the match and recorded a match-high 18 put-aways of their own en route to a 25-15 victory in the first frame of play and an early 1-0 lead, a lead from which WSSU would never recover.

The second and third sets of the match would also belong to the Bulldogs as WSSU recorded only 14 points in both stanzas despite getting a 10-kill contribution from Annika Barnwell and receiving nine kills from Ashley Harris.

Cindi Miller led UNC-Asheville with a match-high 11 kills in the victory as the Bulldogs improved to 8-3 on the season with the victory.

The loss drops Winston-Salem State to 1-9 on the season while UNC-Asheville improves to 8-4 on the year with the victory.

WSSU returns to action on Sept. 15 as they travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to face the Terriers of Wofford at 7 p.m.
