Hill Selected to All-America Team

GREEENSBORO, NC ? The North Carolina A&T softball season ended almost a month ago, but softball standout Ryanne Hill continues to collect the fruits of her labor.

On Thursday, the rising junior from Charlotte, N.C., added two more honors to her credit. Easton Sports Inc., made Hill a third-team All-American. In addition, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association voted Hill to the All-State team.

The two honors will go nicely alongside her MEAC Player of the Year award and the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All-Southeast Region honor.

“She has a very good work ethic and her academics are excellent,’’ said North Carolina A&T head softball coach Mamie Jones. “She is a true student-athlete. She is constantly in the books, and she works tirelessly in making herself an excellent softball player.”

Easton Sports Inc., is one of the largest providers of softball bats to universities and colleges. Therefore, for Hill to earn an All-American status along with players who play at some of the largest schools in the country showcases just how productive her 2009 season was.

Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from North Carolina’s NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions for the purpose of promoting college athletics in the state. NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball. More than 500 student-athletes have been recognized on all-state teams since 2003.

Hill led the MEAC in RBIs and doubles (15). She also ranked second in the MEAC in hits (60) and total bases (96).

In two years at N.C.. A&T, Hill is batting .340 with 83 RBIs and 11 home runs in 94 games.
