The team games are done and after a morning full of bowling the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) stands in second place overall with 4,095 pins, just 47 behind the leader Nebraska who put up an impressive 4,142. The Hawks and The Huskers are the only two teams to average over 1,000 for the team games with UMES sporting a 1023.8 and Nebraska a 1035.5
The Hawks are doing well thanks to an unlikely duo. Sophomore Katherine Brown and senior Sara DiScioscia both normal reserves for the Lady Hawks elevated their games. Brown recorded the third highest pinfall of the team games with an 881 for an average of a 220.25 while DiScioscia, who entered as a substitute in game two, averaged the third best of the field with a 223.67 on a three game tally of 671 pins.
Newly named All-Americans Kristina Frahm and Maria Rodriguez were also solid as Frahm finished tenth overall with an 837 pinfall and an average of 210.50. Rodriguez wasn't far behind in 12th with a 834 pins and an average of 208.50. Jamie Culbreth rounded out the five keglers in 24th with a 184 average.
Fairleigh Dickinson, who led the first two rounds finished third while New Jersey City, Vanderbilt and Central Missouri rounded out the top six. Fellow MEAC competitor Delaware State is in seventh, 325 pins back while last year's runner-up Arkansas State is in eighth 616 pins back.
The teams break for lunch and return at 3:00 p.m. with 20 Baker format games. They play those in five, four game matches. The total pinfall at the end of the day determines the seeding, one through eight. The double elimination bracket play begins at 9:30 a.m. on Friday with one playing eight, two playing seven and continues through the bracket.
