VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. ? North Carolina A&T’s Ryanne Hill was named the MEAC Softball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Lydia Rodriguez of Morgan State was named Rookie of the Week while Norfolk State’s Alyssa Velazquez earned Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Hill (OF, 5-8, So., Charlotte, N.C.) batted .571, including four hits in seven at-bats, in two non-conference games against UNC-Greensboro. She tallied three RBI with one run including a walk-off RBI single to aid the Lady Aggies to their first victory over UNCG in 17 meetings. Hill hit .750 with two RBI in the first game of the doubleheader and followed with another RBI in game two along with a run. She also posted two putouts from the outfield.
Rodriguez (INF, 5-7, Fr., Virginia Beach, Va.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and drove in a game-high four RBI in an 11-3 win over Coppin State. She finished with one double and one triple, hitting for .666, in the three plate appearances. She also added two putouts.
Velazquez (P, 5-3, Jr., Aurora, Colo.) pitched four solid frames last week for the Spartans picking up a non-conference win against North Carolina Central. Velazquez posted a 0.00 ERA, surrendering just one hit while striking out two in the victory. She also picked up an RBI at the plate in her three appearances.

Rebecca Barnes (NSU) hit her first career grand slam in first game of a doubleheader against North Carolina Central to help NSU to a 12-0 rout.
Cassandra Carlos (UMES) hit .538 with one triple, one double and two RBI in five games last week.
Elizabeth Castaneda (NSU) recorded an ERA of 0.88 in seven innings against Winston-Salem State to pick up the win.
Ebony Hahn (UMES) extended a three-game hit streak with a homer against Winston-Salem State to help lift the Lady Hawks to the win.
Megan Johnson (MSU) pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one walk with five strikeouts against Coppin State, to record the win.
Inde Whitehurst (UMES) struck out seven batters in seven innings to record a win over Winston-Salem State.
Andrea Waters (DSU) went 14-for-19 with one homer, two doubles and two RBI in six outings last week for the Lady Hornets.
