FAMU?s Shipman Selected For Women Coaches Academy

Florida A&M University Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Latasha Shipman has been selected to participate in the 2009 NCAA Women Coaches Academy being held June 6 -10 in Atlanta.

 

“Being chosen as a final participant to represent the Women’s Coaches Academy is a great honor.  I look forward to learning to more about what it takes to become a successful women’s coach in the 21st century,” said Shipman.

 

The WCA is sponsored by the WinStar Foundation, and is designed and structured to provide relevant topics and learning opportunities.   Through the use of case studies, “what if”, scenarios and role playing, that will expand perspective and create or advance necessary skills.

 

In the four day session candidates will cover following topics:  Fundamentals of Coaching; Management Issues; Principles of Marketing; Culture of Women’s Athletics; and Policies and Procedures.
