Lady Aggies to Meet Florida St. in NCAA Tourney

The 2009 MEAC regular season and tournament champion North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies earned a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament and will face the No. 3 seeded Florida State Seminoles in the Trenton Regional. The game tips off at 2 p.m. (ET) Saturday, March 21, Arena at Gwinnett in Duluth, Georgia. The game will air live on ESPN2.

 

The Lady Aggies enter tournament play with a 26-6 overall record and 15-1 MEAC mark. They won their second consecutive regular season championship and defeated Hampton 76-54, on Saturday, March 14 at the conference basketball tournament in Winston-Salem, N.C. 

 

The tournament championship is the second overall for the Lady Aggies since the 1994 season. The 14th seed is the highest seed for a MEAC women’s basketball program since the inception of the 64-team bracket in 1994.

 

 

The Seminoles, who tied for the regular season Atlantic Coast Conference title with a 12-2 mark, earned an at-large bid to the tournament.  Florida State (25-7) will compete in a school-record fifth-straight NCAA Tournament.
