North Carolina A&T ADVANCES TO MEAC FINAL WITH WIN OVER MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE
WINSTON-SALEM, NC ? North Carolina A&T used its size advantage inside and the all-round play of Brittanie Taylor-James to race past fourth-seeded Maryland Eastern Shore 74-56 Friday in semifinal action of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The top-seeded Lady Aggies, who improved to 25-6 earned a spot in the Saturday’s noon title game, their second appearance in the championship contest in as many years. NC A&T will meet the winner of Friday’s second semifinal game between sixth-seeded Hampton and seventh-seeded Florida A&M, both upset winners earlier.

Fortune, Lady Pirates Advance to MEAC Championship Game
Bernadette Fortune scored a game-high 19 points to lead No. 6 seed Hampton to a 70-58 win over No. 7 Florida A&M in the MEAC Tournament semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Lady Pirates (16-15) advance to Saturday’s championship game against top-seeded North Carolina A&T. Tip-off is at noon and the game will be televised on a tape-delay basis on ESPNU.
This marks the Lady Pirates’ first MEAC Tournament title game appearance since 2004, when they beat Delaware State to capture the championship. That Hampton team was coached by current N.C. A&T coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs.

Holmes, Bolden Combine to Send Morgan State to Finals
Reggie Holmes scored a team-high 25 points and Jermaine Bolden and Rogers Barnes each added 17 to lead Morgan State to a 75-67 win over Coppin State in the semifinal round of the MEAC men’s basketball tournament at the LJVM Coliseum.
The Bears (21-11), the top seed and regular season champs, will take on the winner of the Norfolk State-South Carolina State semifinal on Saturday at 7 pm for the tournament championship. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

Lyons, DeLoach Lead Norfolk State to Finals
It was Michael DeLoach who scored 14 of his game-high 20 points in the second half that got his team back into the game, but it was Corey Lyons, who scored 10 of his 17 points after intermission, including the go-ahead basket and the last six points that helped Norfolk State come from behind to defeat South Carolina State, 74-71 in the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference men’s tournament.
The Spartans (13-17), the Number 3 seed, will take on Morgan State in the tournament finals on Saturday beginning 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
