Leslie Scores Game Winner To Send Hampton To The Semifinals

 

Sharelle Leslie scored the game-winning basket with 0.8 seconds remaining to give Hampton a dramatic, 58-56 win over Delaware State in a hard-fought quarterfinal game in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s tournament at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. 

 

The Lady Pirates (16-15), the Number 6 seed, advance to Friday’s semifinal against Florida A&M, the Number 7 seed, who advanced after an upset win over Coppin State, the Number 2 seed and defending tournament champion.

Morton’s Career High 24 Leads UMES To Win Over Morgan State

Casey Morton  scored a career-high 24 points and April McBride added  nine of 11 after intermission to lead Maryland Eastern Shore to a 70-59 win over Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s  quarterfinal  game at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.  The Lady Hawks (15-13), the Number 4 seed, will take on North Carolina A&T, the Top seed, in Friday’s semifinal at 12 noon.

Lyons Leads Norfolk State to Win Over Bethune-Cookman

 

Corey Lyons scored 15 of his game-high 28 points in the second half to lead Norfolk State to a 63-58 win over Bethune-Cookman in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference men’s tournament at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Coliseum. 

 

The Spartans (12-17), the number three seed, advance to Friday’s semifinal round against South Carolina State, the number two seed at 8 p.m.

Harper, McKee Lead Coppin State to Win Over North Carolina A&T

 

Michael Harper scored a team-high 17 points but it was Tywain McKee who made the difference, converting a key 3-point play to lead Coppin State to a hard-fought, 66-63, win over North Carolina A&T in the quarterfinal round of the MEAC tournament at the Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum.  

 

The Eagles (13-18), the Number 5 seed, will take on Morgan State, the Number 1 seed in Friday’s semifinals beginning at 6 p.m.
