Deidra Jones scored a game-high 21 points to lead four players in double figures as Florida A&M defeated Coppin State, 64-43 in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s tournament at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Lady Rattlers (13-16), the Number 7 seed, advances to Friday’s semifinal round against the winner of the Delaware State-Hampton quarterfinal matchup.

North Carolina A&T Balanced Attack Too Much For Howard, Lady Aggies Advance
Amber Bland scored a game-high 20 points to lead five players in double figures as North Carolina A&T won easily over Howard, 80-52 in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s tournament at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Lady Aggies (24-6), the Number 1 seed. Will advance to Friday’s noon semifinal match against the winner of the Maryland Eastern Shore/Morgan State quarterfinal.

Reed Leads Bethune-Cookman to Win Over UMES
CJ Reed scored seven of his team’s last eight points, including a go-ahead jump shot and four free throws down the stretch to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 52-47 win over the Maryland Eastern Shore in the quarterfinal round of the MEAC Tournament at the Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum.
The Wildcats (17-15), the Number 6 seed, advances to the semifinal round against Norfolk State, the Number 3 seed on Thursday at 6 pm. The Hawks, the Number 11 seed, finish their season at 7-23.

Holmes, Bolden Lead Morgan State to Easy Win Over Florida A&M
Reggie Holmes scored a game-high 18 points and Jermaine “Itchy” Bolden added 12 points and a fine all-around floor game to lead Morgan State to a 71-41 win over Florida A&M in the quarterfinal round of the MEAC men’s tournament at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Coliseum.
The Bears (21-11), the Number 1 seed and regular season champs, advances to the semifinal round on Friday at 6 p.m. against the winner of the North Carolina A&T and Coppin State quarterfinal matchup.

Second-Seeded SC State Edges Hampton, 57-56
Jessie Burton’s driving lay-up with 2:22 remaining put South Carolina State ahead 57-54 and the second-seeded Bulldogs hung on for a 57-56 victory over seventh-seeded Hampton Wednesday in quarterfinal action at the MEAC tournament at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Coach Tim Carter’s team, 17-13, moved into Friday’s 8 p.m. semifinal against the winner of Thursday’s quarterfinal matchup between third-seeded Norfolk State and Bethune-Cookman, the sixth seed.
