Zykia Brown scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the second half and Nathalie Day recorded a double double to help Howard University pull away to a 63-43 win over Bethune-Cookman University in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s tournament at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum. The Lady Bison (9-21), the Number 8 seed, advance to the second round of the tournament against the Number 1 seed, North Carolina A&T on Wednesday at 12:30 pm.

Chinyere, Leslie Lead Hampton To Win Over Norfolk State
Chinyere Ukoh scored 11 points and Sharella Leslie added 10 to lead Hampton University to a 68-49 win over Norfolk State University in the first round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s tournament at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum. The Lady Pirates (14-15), the Number 6 seed, will take on the Lady Hornets of Delaware State, the Number 3 seed, on Thursday at 12 noon

Rattlers Shoot Past Howard, 71-58
Lamar Twitty scored a team-high 20 points to lead No. 8 Florida A&M through an efficient offensive performance to a 71-58 win over No. 9 Howard in the first-round of the MEAC Tournament Tuesday night at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Rattlers (10-20) advance to the quarterfinals to face top seed and regular season champion Morgan State on Wednesday night beginning at 7 p.m. game. FAMU handed the Bears one of their three regular-season conference losses this season.
Howard ends its season at 8-22.

Hampton Defeats Delaware State 51-32 in MEAC Low-scoring Affair
In the lowest-scoring contest in MEAC tournament history, seventh-seeded Hampton defeated tenth-seeded Delaware State 51-32 Tuesday in the opening round of action at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Pirates, 16-15, moved into Wednesday’s 9:03 p.m. quarterfinal contest against second-seeded South Carolina State, while the Hornets ended their campaign at 8-24.
The 32 points scored by Delaware State were an all-time tournament low and also a school-record low for the Hornets and Coach Greg Jackson. And the combined 83 points by the two teams were the lowest ever for the 38-year old tournament.
