Coppin State women's bowling team recorded five victories at the Kutztown Invitational at the Bowl-A-Rama at Hiester Lanes marking the Eagles initial wins of the season.
The Eagles recorded Baker total pinfall victories over Long Island and Cheney, a team match win against Long Island and best of seven Baker wins versus Cheyney and Long Island.
The victories are the first for head coach LaTonya Bell-Jones who took over head coaching duties in the fall.
Led by Erica Martin and Denia Chapple the Eagles defeated Long Island 602-558 in team match play. Martin rolled a 143 game, while Chapple knocked down 142 pins.
The Eagles defeated Long Island in Baker system total pinfall 513-460. CSU won game one 141-133 and stretched the lead to 64 pins by winning the second game 134-78.
Coppin State also defeated Cheyney in Baker system total pinfall by a 484-452 margin. The Eagles held a 45-pin lead after the first two games and then withstood a late charge by the Wolves.
The Eagles posted a perfect 2-0 record in Baker system best of seven play. CSU defeated Cheyney in four straight games and beat Long Island 4-2.
In team match play, Shante Corbitt had the Eagles high series as she rolled an 834 with a high of 175 against Florida A&M. Chapple had an 824 series, which included a 155 against St. Paul's.
