VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., December 7, 2009 - Morgan State's Reggie Holmes was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Dewayne Jackson, also of Morgan State, was named the Rookie of the week while teammate Kevin Thompson was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Holmes (G, 6-4, 185, Sr., Baltimore, Md.) averaged 27.5 points in two games last week for the Bears. Holmes recorded 34 points, shooting 8-of-18 from the field, with three steals in a non-conference matchup against Loyola. He set a school single game record by converting 12-of-12 free-throws against Greyhounds. He followed with a game-high 24 points along with four boards in MSU's conference opener against local rival Coppin State.
Jackson (F, 6-8, 210, Fr., Bowie, Md.) averaged 11 points, seven rebounds and 2.5 steals to help Morgan State improve to 5-3 overall last week. He fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds against Coppin State.
Thompson (F, 6-8, 235, So., Baltimore, Md.) collected his sixth double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds, including a block shot, against Coppin State. He also recorded 16 points and 14 rebounds in a previous matchup against Loyola.

Tavarus Alston (NCAT) recorded 25 points, three rebounds, five assists in the Aggies 93-84 victory over the Spartans.
Yannick Crowder (FAMU) recorded 14 rebounds a career-high five blocked shots against Florida International.
Michael Deloach (NSU) averaged 22.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two disappointing losses for the Spartans last week.
Kevin Dukes (B-CU) scored 16 points, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range, in the Wildcats victory over Florida Gulf Coast.
Hillary Haley (UMES) posted 14 points with two assists and four steals as he helped the Hawks record their first win over Delaware State since Jan. 2001.
Paul Kirkpatrick (HOW) connected on 11-of-15 baskets with 26 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and two blocks in two games last week for the Bison.
James Porter (NCAT) recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds with two blocked shots in the Aggies win over Norfolk State.
Alibaba Odd (DSU) was perfect from the field (3-of-3) and posted a career-high 15 points in non-conference win over Delaware.
Frisco Sandidage (DSU) recorded 26 points, connecting on 7-of-13 shots, with five steals in a 75-67 win over Delaware.
Alexander Starling (B-CU) averaged 13.5 points, six rebounds, three assists, 2.5 steals and one block in two games last week for the Wildcats.
Jay Threatt (DSU) recorded 10 assists and six steals, with 14 points, to help the Hornets finish with a 1-1 mark last week.
Christopher Walker (FAMU) scored a game high 19 points with six rebounds and one steal in a matchup against Florida.
