MEAC WBB BEGINS CONFERENCE SLATE THIS SATURDAY

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) tips-off women's basketball conference play Saturday, Dec.5, with 10-of -12 teams in action.  

The defending MEAC champion North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies will travel to Norfolk, Virginia to take on the Norfolk State Spartans at 4 p.m.  The Lady Aggies, who were picked to repeat as conference champions, finished the 2008-09 season with a 15-1 mark in MEAC play and posted a school-record 26 wins en route to the 2009 MEAC tournament crown.

Hampton begins its conference season on the road in Washington, DC as they face off against the Howard Lady Bison. The Lady Pirates were tied with Morgan State with a 9-7 record a year ago and advanced to conference tournament final.

Four more teams will begin the race for the conference crown Saturday with Delaware State traveling to Maryland Eastern Shore and Florida A&M at Bethune-Cookman.  South Carolina State will host Winston-Salem State in a non-conference matchup.

The Coppin State Lady Eagles will host the Morgan State Lady Bears in the conference opener for both teams on Jan. 2, 2010.

The 2010 MEAC Basketball Tournament is scheduled for March 8-13, 2010 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum (LJVM) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
