Lady Pirates Down Radford, 63-43

Quanneisha Perry led the charge for Hampton with 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals as the Lady Pirates sailed past Radford 63-43 Wednesday night in the HU Convocation Center.

Brenna Jones would also record her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds on the night.

Hampton snapped a seven-game losing streak that dated back to November 24, when the Lady Pirates lost at Richmond. The Lady Pirates improved to 3-7 overall while the Highlanders dropped to 1-9 on the season.

In the first half, Hampton led by as many as 17 points while Jones had nine of her 15 points in the first half. The Lady Pirates did all of this on 12-of-29 shooting from the floor and three-of-seven from beyond the three-point arc.

Hampton forced 20 turnovers and scored 16 points off those turnovers during the first half. Radford shot just 36 percent from the floor, making just 9-of-25 shots while Hampton held them to just 18 points.

Hampton took the lead early in the game with a Bernadette Fortune basket for the Lady Pirates with 18:23 reminding in the first half and never looked back once.

The Lady Pirates finished the night shooting 33 percent from the floor, making 19-of-57 shots and 71 percent from the charity stripe, making 22-of-31 shots taken.

Hampton scored 30 points in the paint, 26 points off 34 Radford turnovers, 14 second chance points, and 13 points off bench. The Lady Pirates also had a season-high 21 steals on the night, led by the quick hands of Jerika Jenkins, who had seven of the 21 steals. Jenkins also finished the night with seven assists, four rebounds and five points.
