Lady Wildcats Hold Off Stetson to Win 65-60
Bethune-Cookman earned their first road win of the year, while defeating Stetson 65-60, Monday evening.
In the first half, it was a true defensive struggle, with neither team truly gaining advantage, with the score becoming tied seven times. The largest lead was gained by B-CU, with a five-point advantage, twice, but Stetson bounced back each time, as the lead also changed six times. At halftime, the score was all knotted up at 27 apiece, as a Jasmine Daniels three-pointer and Demetria Frank free throw brought it back to even.
In opening moments of the second half, B-CU created some momentum, launching a 9-2 run and claiming a significant lead for the first time in the game. As the Lady Hatters tried to battle back, they could only break the deficit down to four before the Lady Wildcats started another scoring run, to take a 12 point lead.
With just over two minutes remaining on the clock, and B-CU leading by eleven, Stetson started to rally up and make a comeback, but B-CU remained focused and made the necessary moves to maintain their lead. The Lady Wildcats made necessary shots and put down all but two of their free throws to stay out on top. B-CU went on to defeat the Lady Hatter for the first time since 2006, 65-60.
