MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

Florida A&M sophomore Tameka McKelton was named the MEAC Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Howard's Saadia Doyle earned Rookie of the Week honors, while FAMU's Qiana Donald earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

McKelton (Guard, 5-8, So., West Palm Beach, Fla.) recorded 20 points and six rebounds in a 61-52 win over Alabama. The sophomore was 57-percent from 3-point range and added three steals in the victory.

Doyle (Forward, 5-11, Fr., Atlanta, Ga.) shot 86-percent from the field (6-of-7) with 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals against Central Michigan. 

Donald (Guard/Forward, 6-0, So., Jacksonville, Fla.) grabbed 17 rebounds and posted 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field (75-percent) in a win over Alabama.

Paris Alston
(SCSU) averaged 9.3 points and eight rebounds in three games for the Lady Bulldogs.

Zykia Brown (How) recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and five steals in a loss to Central Michigan.

Sophilia Hipps (SCSU) averaged 14.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists for the Lady Bulldogs in three games last week.


Whitney Long
(NSU) scored a career-high 30 points in a win over Savannah State.
