FAMU Rattlers Roll Past Albany Sate, 86-64
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Led by a double-double performance from junior Larry Jackson, the FAMU Men's Basketball team caught fire in the second half to pull away to a breezy 86-64 non-conference home victory over Albany (Ga.) State at the Alfred Lawson Center Saturday evening.
Jackson led all scorers Saturday with 22 points, while hauling down 11 rebounds for FAMU (2-10).
Senior Brandon Bryant added 16 points, knocking down four 3-pointers, sophomore Dale Hughes tossed in 13 points and junior Chris Walker scored 12 points, adding nine rebounds for the homestanding Rattlers Saturday.
Albany State (1-4) had four players score in double figures, led by Sean Glenn with 15 points. Truett O'Neal scored 13 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, while James Clark added 12 points and Oscar Morris rounded out the quartet with 11 points.

Loyola's Bench the Difference in Win over Howard
BALTIMORE, MD-Jamal Barney poured in a game-high 28 points off the bench and Tony Lewis added 14 as a reserve to help Loyola defeat Howard, 85-51 in a non-conference men's basketball game at Reitz Arena.
Barney connected on 11 of 14 from the floor and Lewis was 6 of 7 as the Greyhounds' bench outscored the Bison, 61-9.
Howard (1-9) started the game slowly and trailed by as many as 17 before rallying to cut the deficit to 32-23 at the half. Paul Kirkpatrick and Mike Phillips fueled the rally by combining for 10 of their team's last 12 points.
The Bison came out of the locker room with momentum and with Phillips continuing his strong play, reduced the deficit to 32-29 at the 18:11 mark of the second half.
Then Barney and Lewis took over and Howard had no answer. Loyola (5-5) went on a 23-5 run over a seven-minute span to seal the deal and put the game out of reach.

Cage Cats win Again
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - B-CU's men's basketball team will head into the Christmas break with a 7-5 overall record, following Saturday's 94-59 win over Florida Christian College at Moore Gymnasium.
Alexander Starling with a 14 point, 12 rebound, double-double and C. J. Reed with 10 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds led four Wildcats players in double figures against FCC (4-6).
B-CU next plays December 30 at the Miami Hurricanes with the team getting off later next week for the Christmas break.
Bethune-Cookman led all the way and all 13 players in the game scored vs. Florida Christian. Freshmen Javoris Bryant (13 points, 6-7 field goals, 7 rebounds) and Kevin Dukes (11 points, 3-3 from three-point range) joined Starling and Reed in double figure scoring for the winners.
The 'Cats led 46-23 at halftime and continued the 20+ points advantage for most of the second half. In the game, B-CU shot .536 hitting 37-59 field goals and 5-10 three-pointers. The 'Cats out-rebounded FCC 42-30.

Scrappy Hornets Come Up Short at Ohio State
Columbus, Ohio - Delaware State held the No. 18 Ohio State Buckeyes to a season-low 60 points, but could not muster up enough offense in a 60-44 men's basketball loss before 12,159 fans at Value City Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets dropped their fourth straight to fall to 4-5 on the season. Ohio State has won two in a row, and seven of its last eight, to improve to 9-2.
The Buckeyes entered the contest averaging 84.7 points. OSU had three games of 100-or-more points in its first 10 games.
Ohio State was limited to 37 shots from the floor after averaging nearly 60 in its first 10 contests. The Buckeyes, however, hit 22 of their shots against the Hornets (59.5%), including 12-of-16 in the second half (75%).
Delaware State half court offense set the pace of the game early in the contest. A jumper by Marcus Neal gave the Hornets a 7-5 lead eight minutes into the game.

Road Woes Continue As Wright State Tops UMES, 87-46
DAYTON, Ohio - The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks scored a season low in points as Wright State rolled, 87-46, in front of 4,028 fans at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Saturday night.
Junior Kevin White scored a team-high 16 points on 7-of-15 from the floor while dishing out three assists and grabbing three rebounds. Fellow junior Freddy Obame Obame had a team-high seven rebounds while redshirt freshman Mark Robertson had six.
The Hawks and Raiders went back and forth for the first five and a half minutes of the game and a layup by sophomore Tyler Hines put UMES up 9-7 at 14:42. This would be the last time the visitors would lead as a 3-pointer by WSU's Darian Cartharn put the home team up 10-9.
WSU held the Hawks scoreless for the next six minutes before a layup by White to make the score 20-15. The Raiders went back up by 10 points with baskets by Cory Cooperwood and Tyler Koch before White made a layup while being fouled going into the third media timeout. After the timeout, he made his free throw to bring UMES within seven.
