GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Dec. 1) - Florida A&M rallied from an early deficit, took the lead, then held on for a thrilling 72-71 victory over the University of Florida at the Stephen O'Connell Center Tuesday evening.
The Lady Rattlers overcame an early 12-0 game-opening run by Florida (3-4) with a torrid 25-11 surge led by Antonia Bennett's trio of three-pointers, plus two triples from Tameka McKelton, vaulting them in front, 25-23 with 8:55 left in the half.
Florida rallied themselves, staging a 14-9 run to close the half to forge a narrow 37-34 lead at the break.
FAMU came out of the gate on fire in the second half, shooting a blistering 62.5 percent (15 of 24), while knocking down three of four long distance shots to outscore the Gators, 38-34.
After Florida scored the first basket of the half to extend their lead to 39-34, FAMU rallied to tie the game at 39-39 on a three-pointer by Bennett with 18:08 left.
That ignited a 13-3 FAMU run that vaulted them to a 52-42 lead with 13:15 left on a triple by Christian Rateree.
Florida made several charges at FAMU, which the Lady Rattlers withstood, twice rebuilding their leads back to double digits.
A 14-5 run by the Lady Rattlers turned a 58-55 edge into a 72-60 advantage with just 48 seconds left, when the Gators made one last stab at FAMU, mounting an 11-0 run capped by a Jordan Jones three-pointer with two seconds left for the final count.

Lady Rams Fall to USC-Upstate in 84-60 Shootout Loss
WSSU struggles to keep up with fast-paced Spartans
Winston-Salem State (2-5) had no problems scoring points, but could not keep up with the USC-Upstate Spartans (5-2), Tuesday evening. The Lady Rams shot a scorching 51% from the field in the loss, but foul troubles and turnovers were too much for the Lady Rams to overcome in the loss.
The Lady Rams committed 21 total turnovers in the game and sent the Spartans to the free throw line for 27 attempts. The free throws were especially costly as USC-Upstate went 22-of-27 from the free throw line in the game. The free throws turned out to be the difference in the game as the Lady Rams hit just two fewer field (26) goals than the Spartans (28).
WSSU junior forward Vontisha Woods led the attack for the Lady Rams with 16 points in the game. She was the only WSSU player to reach double-digit scoring in the game. At the other end of the court, the Spartans had little trouble finding points, shooting 84 points, the most allowed by the Lady Rams this season, and five players reaching double-digit scoring in the game.

Lady Aggies Fall to Auburn, 76-63
GREENSBORO - The North Carolina A&T women's basketball team had trouble finding easy baskets Tuesday night. Auburn did not.
When the Tigers needed a high percentage shot they went inside to 6-foot-8 KeKe Carrier. She finished with 28 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots to lead Auburn to a 76-63 win at Corbett Sports Center. Sophomore Crystal Murdaugh led the Aggies with 12 points and four rebounds. Freshman JaQuayla Berry added 10.
"It's kind of tough when there is a 6-8 in the middle,'' said N.C. A&T head coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs. "She gets to her position and what she does is what she does."
The Tigers scored 40 points in the paint Tuesday night, and they shot 52.6 percent from the field. The Tigers not only had the 6-8 Carrier, but they also brought off the bench 6-7 Pascale West and 6-3 Blanche Alverson, who can step out and knock down perimeter shots. Despite the Tigers height advantage, the Aggies made a strong run at an upset.
