Florida A&M Outlasts Georgia State, 60-58

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Rasheem Jenkins hit two free throws in the final 20 seconds to lift Florida A&M to a 60-58 non-conference men's basketball victory over Georgia State at the Lawson Center Sunday afternoon.

The win was the first of the season for FAMU (1-10), while the visiting Panthers (5-5) had a two-game winning streak halted.

Junior Larry Jackson led all scorers with 16 points for FAMU, while senior Brandon Bryant added 13 points. Sophomore Yannick Crowder led FAMU wth nine rebounds, followed by Jackson and junior Christopher Walker with eight boards each.

Georgia State got 14 points apiece from Xavier Hansbro and Trae Goldston, followed by Jihad Ali with eight points. Hansbro led the Panthers with seven rebounds.

FAMU led from the outset, grabbing an early 4-0 lead in first minute on baskets by Brandon Bryant and Larry Jackson, before Georgia State tied the game at 4-4, on a pair of free throws with 16:28 left in the half.

Northwestern Hits Record 20 3-Pointers En Route to Win over Aggies

EVANSTON, Ill. - Led by Drew Crawford's six first-half 3-pointers, the Wildcats earned a 90-65 win over North Carolina A&T men's basketball eam Sunday night at Welsh-Rayn Arena. When the game ended, the Wildcats had hit a school-record 20 3-pointers with Crawford finishing with 35 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the arc.

Michael Thompson had 19 points and five threes. The Wildcats' 20 threes are the most ever hit against an Aggies team. The Aggies were led by junior Thomas Coleman's 16 points and 10 rebounds. Coleman also had three blocks to break the school record for career blocked shots (167). He now owns the single-game, single-season and career school record in blocked shots.

Crawford gained his shooting touch 6 ½ minutes into the game. Thompson got things started by hitting a three from the corner to give the Wildcats a 14-11 lead. After Tavarus Alston drove the lane and dished to James Porter for an easy layup, the Aggies trailed 14-13. Crawford answered by hitting three straight 3-pointers.
