UMES Defeats Navy

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Sophomore Tyler Hines recorded a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds as he led the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks to an 80-72 win over the Navy Midshipmen Wednesday evening at the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center.

"Everyone worked hard and contributed to this victory," said Hines. "When we come out

with the energy and heart that we did, things start coming together to produce wins."

"Tyler has tremendous heart and brings it every day to practices and games," said head coach Frankie Allen. "He played with extreme poise and confidence this evening,

grabbed some huge rebounds and made big plays."

The win snaps a four-game losing streak to the Mids and is the first for the Hawks since an 82-71 victory on December 11, 1993 at Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Md. Prior to the matchup, Navy was 10-2 against MEAC teams (the other loss coming to Howard in 2007) and head coach Billy Lange was 3-0 against UMES.
