MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY VOLLEYBALL HONORS

Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Christine Edwards was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the week, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Bella Jade Romero earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Edwards (OH, 5-10, So., Lakewood, California) helped extend the Lady Hawks' win streak to 12 matches including a 10-0 mark in MEAC play last week. In a win over Coppin State, Edwards hit 53-percent from the floor and tallied two digs and seven aces. She followed that performance with 12 kills, two blocks, two assists, four aces and three digs in a 3-0 sweep against Howard.

Romero (S, 5-6, Fr., Arlington, Texas) averaged 24 assists and three digs per match last week in two victories for the Lady Hawks. She hit 50-percent from the floor (3-of-6) and added one ace and one block.  

Other Top Performers:

Mianna Armstrong (Ham) totaled 24 kills and 27 digs to aid the Lady Pirates to a 1-1 mark last week.


Ornela Cadavid (Ham) posted a 41-percent hitting percentage (15-of-30) in two matches for the Lady Pirates.


Erin Cox (MSU) recorded a double-double of 16 kills and 20 digs against Hampton.

Macie Wyly (MSU) tallied 12 kills and five blocks in a win over Hampton.
