Lady Rams Take Tough Three-Set Road Loss at North Carolina A&T

Winston-Salem State (4-31) suffered a three-set loss to the North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies (2-28), Friday afternoon. The Lady Rams had a tough overall effort in the loss with just 16 total team kills, 18 attack errors, and 11 receiving errors.

The Lady Rams' began early in the match, dropping the first two sets, 25-10 and 25-14. The team did fight back for a better effort in the third set, but ended the afternoon with a 25-17 loss. The injury bug reared its ugly head in the third set when WSSU sophomore setter Alexandria Brown was unable to take the court in the third set after struggling with an ankle injury that she suffered at High Point on Tuesday. 

WSSU junior hitter Ashley Harris led the Lady Rams for the second straight match with six kills and a service ace. She also added three digs. Fellow junior Erica Cole added three kills and five digs.

The Lady Rams will close out the 2009 season on Sunday when the team heads to Norfolk, Virginia to take on the Norfolk State Spartans.
