Early B-CU Shooting Slump Pushes UNF Past the Lady Wildcats, 75-57
Bethune-Cookman made their third consecutive road trip in the past week, facing the Ospreys of the University of North Florida. The Lady Wildcats showed great determination and got into striking position multiple times, but ultimately fell to the Ospreys 75-57.
B-CU faced a major challenge in the opening minutes of the game, as UNF put scores on the board every other possession, while the Lady Wildcats couldn't seem to find the bottom of the bucket. More than five minutes ticked off the clock before B-CU got on the board, finding themselves down six points. While B-CU struggled to get their offense going, UNF showed no signs of slowing down, making a 16-4 scoring run, pushing out to their largest lead of the game at twenty.
Facing their largest deficit, B-CU responded and the offense started to roll with just under nine minutes remaining in the half, taking the lead down to thirteen. Working with great momentum from the scoring run, UNF responded and pushed back out. In the closing moments of the first half, however, B-CU made an 8-2 scoring run to shorten the gap, and head into the half down thirteen, 40-27.
