MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY VOLLEYBALL HONORS

 

Maryland Eastern Shore senior Caylin Woodward was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the week, the conference announced on Monday. Norfolk State's Charlotte Armstead earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

Woodward (OH, 6-0, Sr., Garden Grove, California) hit 41-percent from the floor (19-of-37) to extend the Lady Hawks win streak to 10 matches, including an 8-0 mark in MEAC play. The senior posted a triple-double with 10 kills, 10 assists and 10 digs and added one block and four aces in a win over Delaware State. She followed that outing with nine kills, two blocks, two assists, one ace and three digs in a win over Hampton.

Armstead (MB/RS, 6-0, Fr., Williamsburg, Virginia) hit 41-percent from the floor with a career-high 15 kills in a 3-2 loss to South Carolina State. In a win over Bethune-Cookman, Armstead posted nine kills and added three blocks.

Other Top Performers:

Mianna Armstrong (Ham) recorded a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs in a victory over Coppin State.

Jovana Blazeski (FAMU) hit 55-percent from the floor (33-of-53) and added one block, one assist and 17 digs to extend the Lady Rattlers win streak to 5-0 in MEAC play. 

Tracey Copley (NSU) totaled 26 kills, three aces and 15 digs to guide the Spartans to a 1-1 mark last week.


Erin Cox (MSU) averaged 10 kills, nine digs and 3.5 aces per game in two matches for the Lady Bears last week.

Gazelle d'Artois (How) posted 23 kills and 14 digs in a win over Morgan State.

Bella Jade Romero (UMES) averaged 23 assists per set and totaled two aces and six digs for the Lady Hawks last week.

Ivana Suput (Ham) posted 22 digs in two matches for Hampton last week.

Macie Wyly (MSU) tallied seven kills and one block in a 3-2 loss to Howard.
