MEAC Announces Weekly Volleyball Honors

Howard junior Gazelle D'Artois was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the week, the conference announced on Monday. Norfolk State's Charlotte Armstead earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

d'Artois (OH, 5-10, Jr., Newhall, California) recorded 20 kills while hitting 34-percent from the floor in a 3-1 non-conference win against Winston-Salem State. d'Artois added a season-high four aces and posted six digs in the victory. This is the second straight week that d'Artois has earned Player of the Week accolades.

Armstead (MB/RS, 6-0, Fr., Williamsburg, Virginia) posted a 45-percent hitting percentage with 13 kills on 22 attacks in a 3-2 loss to North Carolina Central. The middle blocker tallied six blocks (one solo) and added two aces and one dig in the loss.

Other Top Performers:

Jovana Blazeski (FAMU) recorded 25 kills and 16 digs in a 3-2 loss to North Florida.

Lina Cordoba (Ham) tallied six kills and recorded a 45-percent hitting percentage while adding two blocks and one dig in a loss to North Carolina Central.  

Erin Cox (MSU) posted a match-high 16 kills and added six digs and two aces is a loss to American.

Christine Edwards (UMES) recorded 14 kills and six digs in a 3-0 sweep of North Carolina Central.

Jasmine King (How) posted 49 assists and six digs in a 3-1 non-conference win over Winston-Salem State.

Ivana Suput (Ham) recorded 12 digs in a defensive effort for the Lady Pirates.

Karin Vikterlof (UMES) tallied 10 digs and added five aces in a win over North Carolina Central.
