Norfolk State sophomore Aurora Scott finished fourth at the William & Mary Tribe Open on Saturday. She ran the 6K (3.7 mile) course in 22:17.21.
Former Virginia Commonwealth runner, Maria-Elena Calle won the overall title in 20:36.24.
Junior Jennifer Chichester finished fifth in 22:37.08 and was closely followed by freshman Kellen Rutto who came in sixth in 22:48.34. Rounding out NSU's top five were senior Tia Miles and sophomore Jamia Hutto who had times of 23:56.90 and 24:41.30, respectively.
Freshman Mercy Koech made her long-awaited season debut for NSU and finished the race in 25:00.96.
The Spartans have two weeks to prepare for the 2009 MEAC Cross Country Championships which will be held in Princess Anne, Md. on October 31 at 9:45 a.m.
