Gleaton Leads SCSU Over NSU, 3-1

Jarne Gleaton had a match-high 12 kills and added 10 digs and 1.5 blocks to lead the South Carolina State volleyball team to a 3-1 MEAC win over Norfolk State on Friday evening at Gill Gym. The Lady Bulldogs (5-14, 1-2 MEAC) defeated the Spartans (4-18, 1-2 MEAC) 22-25, 26-24, 27-25, 25-23.

NSU won the first set and battled hard in the final three, but SCSU held on to take the match.

 Bria Brimmer had a double-double of 34 assists and 13 digs for SCSU.

For NSU, Charlotte Armstead and Chynna Blaker each had a team-high eight kills. Nicole Kessner tallied 34 assists and Tracey Copley had career-highs of 15 digs and seven kills.

The Spartans have the week off. They travel to Greensboro, N.C. next Friday to take on North Carolina A&T. NSU defeated A&T 3-0 in the meeting earlier this season.
