Sara DiSciosica, a former Lady Hawk Bowler, was recently recognized for her career accolades by being inducted into the Virginia State United State Bowling Congress Youth Hall of Fame in a ceremony held September 26, 2009.

DiScioscia was a four-year member of the Lady Hawks bowling team which, during her time here, earned three MEAC Championships and the 2008 NCAA National Championship.  DiSciosica also carried the accolade of being the first ever MEAC Bowler of the Week for her performance at the 2008 Hawk Classic where she averaged a 198, good for ninth overall and tops for her team.

This past season, her final one with the Hawks, DiScioscia averaged a 177.66 while bowling in 27 games.  Her high game was a 257.  Her best season came in 2007-08, the NCAA Championship season, where she averaged a 192.26 over 42 games with a high of a 258, also her career high.  For her career, DiScioscia bowled in 87 head to head games, knocked down 16,248 pins and averaged a 186.76.

Her accomplishments in the state started before her time at UMES, DiScioscia is a four-time Peninsula All Star Team member (3 first places).  Her highest average was a 205, high game of 300, and high series of 703.  She is a Level II certified coach; RVP credentialed, assisted with the Sparetimes PeeWees before leaving for college, and was the VSYABA Youth Leaders Eastern Director for four years.  

In 2005, she graduated from Poquoson High School in Poquoson, Va., and went on to attend UMES. She currently is enrolled at Norfolk State University finishing her degree in Early Childhood Development.
