Volleyball 10/11/2009 11:45:00 PM MEAC Media Relations Lady Pirates Pick Up First MEAC Win Hampton picked up its first MEAC win of the season, in a win over Coppin State 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19) Sunday at the Coppin Center.After taking the first two sets and dropping the third, the Lady Pirates (6-13, 1-1 MEAC) had a team hitting percentage of .257, with 15 kills and six errors in 35 chances. Coppin State had a team hitting percentage of .320 in the third set, recording 10 kills with just two errors in 25 attacks. As a team, Hampton had 51 kills in 141 attacks, for a team hitting percentage of .142.With the win, Hampton matches its win total from 2008.Aaryn Harrison led the Lady Pirates with 15 kills, while Mianna Armstrong added 14. Harrison only recorded five errors in 33 attacks, to record a team-high .303 hitting percentage, to go along with her two service aces.Brittany Wynne added three service aces.Lihi Elkayam had 45 of the Lady Pirates' 46 assists, while Ivana Suput led the team on defense with 21 digs. Armstrong added 12 digs on defense.Ashley Saunders led Coppin State with 14 kills, while adding 10 digs on defense. Jade Dudley had a team-high 12 digs.The Lady Pirates will return to action on Friday, when they travel to Princess Anne, Md. to take on Maryland Eastern Shore in conference action.
