Howard’s Zykia Brown was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. Norfolk State’s Marquilla Evans earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Florida A&M’s Melissa Daniels earned the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.
Brown (Guard, 5-8, So., Riverdale, Maryland) averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in three victories for the Lady Bison. She recorded a double-double of 31 points and 12 rebounds in a 69-58 victory against Bethune-Cookman, snapping a 15-game losing skid for the Lady Bison. She followed that performance with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 63-36 non-conference win over Winston-Salem State.
Evans (Guard, 5-8, Fr., Portsmouth, Virginia) averaged 17.5 points and 5.3 rebounds during four games for Norfolk State. Against Morgan State, Evans scored 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and added six rebounds. She led the Spartans with 18 points on 6-of-15 from the field and 2-of-2 from 3-point range in a loss to Delaware State. She followed that performance with a career-high 26 points (8-of-15), including a perfect performance (6-of-6) from the free-throw line, with five rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Daniels (Center, 6-3, Sr., Jasper, Florida) recorded 19 rebounds, one block and one steal against Coppin State. Daniels aided Florida A&M as they held the Coppin State Lady Eagles to 25-percent shooting from the field (7-of-28) during the second half. She averaged 14 rebounds and 8.5 points during two games for the Lady Rattlers last week. Against Morgan State, she tallied nine rebounds, one block and three assists.

Corin Adams (MSU) averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.3 steals to aid the Lady Bears to a 2-1 mark last week.
Adobi Agbasi (UMES) tallied nine points, five rebounds and four blocks in a loss to North Carolina A&T.
Moneshia Davis (MSU) scored a career-high 18 points, on 5-of-11 from the field, in a win against Florida A&M.
Tamaya Daniels (HOW) averaged 13.3 points and eight rebounds in three wins for the Lady Bison.
Erin Hawkins (MSU) totaled 55 points and connected on 12-of-24 three-pointers to aid the Lady Bears to a 2-1 mark last week.
Sonia Johnson (DSU) led all players with 20 points (7-of-11) in a win over Norfolk State.
Jeanine Manley (CSU) came off the bench and scored career-highs of 14 points and eight rebounds in a victory over Bethune-Cookman.
April McBride (UMES) recorded a season-high 22 points and tallied 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season in an 88-76 win over Norfolk State.
Casey Morton (UMES) posted a career-high 23 points, including 14-of-16 from the free-throw line, in a win over Norfolk State.
Danelle Tate (NSU) averaged nine points, five rebounds and 2.5 steals during four games for the Spartans.
Ashley Thompson (DSU) tied a season-high nine rebounds and three blocks in a non-conference win over Winston-Salem State.
