The Delaware State bowling team defeated the nation’s Nos. 1 and 2 teams en route to the championship of the Arkansas State Mid-Winter Invitational last weekend.
The Hornets were 11-4 during the tournament, including victories over Vanderbilt and Nebraska, ranked one and two, respectively, in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association poll. Delaware State is No. 4 in the poll, the highest ranking in team history.
DSU defeated No. 1 Vanderbilt, 725-710, in a Baker contest, then upended No. 2 Nebraska, 793-696, in the championship match today.
The Hornets posted a 3-2 record in Baker matches during the opening day of the tournament on Friday. DSU was 4-1 in regular team play on Saturday, then won four of five Baker contests on Sunday to claim the crown.
Delaware State’s Angela Reynolds and Kalyn Washburn were named to the All-Tournament Team. Each totaled 980 (196 avg.) in five matches on Saturday.
