The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (0-6) ended the 2008 Runnin’ Bulldogs Classic on a down note when the team took a 0-3 loss to host Gardner-Webb, Saturday afternoon. It took little more than an hour for the Lady Rams to suffer their sixth straight loss as the Gardner-Webb offense proved to be too much for the young Lady Rams squad.
The Lady Rams allowed 35 kills in the loss while totaling just 18 kills of their own in the loss. As a team, the Lady Rams totaled a -.056 attack percentage in the loss. WSSU junior hitter Annika Barnwell led the way for the Lady Rams with four kills in the loss. Fellow junior middle blocker Georgette Allen added three kills and three block assists (none solo) in the match. Junior setter Lore McBroom added six assists in the match.
WSSU sophomore outside hitter Ashley Harris earned all-tournament honors for the second week in a row for her efforts in the tournament.
The Lady Rams will return to action Tuesday when the team heads to Boone, NC to take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
