In the second time in as many weeks, the DSU Volleyball team lost to Fairleigh Dickinson. This time, it was a 3-2 battle in the first day of the Lafayette College Tournament.
FDU (3-3) won the first two games 25-18. In those two games, FDU registered a total of 27 kills to the Hornets’ 13.
DSU (2-3) would storm back, taking the next two games by a score of 25-21. In those two games, the Hornets registered 23 kills to FDU’s 16.
Errors would be the downfall for the Hornets as they fell 15-9 in the fifth and final game. The Hornets registered five errors to FDU’s one.
The Hornets were led on offense by sophomore Erica Tajchman’s 17 kills. Martina Ferrari aided in the offensive effort registering a career-high 23 assists.
On the defensive end, Elisa Hermann and Sarah Wheatcroft each registered eight digs, while junior Cassandra Joyner led the team in blocks with three.
The Hornets will conclude two day tournament as they take on hosting Lafayette at 10 a.m. and St. Peter’s at 2 p.m.
