DSU Volleyball Finishes Strong At DSU Tourney

The DSU volleyball team finished off their first three-game winning streak since last October, as they took care of business against Wagner, 3-0. (25-7, 25-13, 25-21)  With the win, the Hornets improve to 6-7 on the season.

This weekend, the Hornets showed their efficiency on offense and it culminated in Saturday’s match against the Seahawks.  DSU tallied a .391 attack percentage with 33 kills and just eight errors.

Junior Cassandra Joyner (DSU Tournament MVP) led the way on offense tallying 10 kills.  Sarah Wheatcroft and Elisa Hermann each chipped in with seven.  Wheatcroft also led the team with 13 assists.  Hermann also helped built momentum for the Hornets as she registered five service aces, with three of them occurring in a row.

DSU was the only team in the tournament to post a perfect 3-0 record.

The Hornets will now start MEAC play as they travel to Hampton on October 3.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
