DSU Volleyball Excels On First Day Of DSU Tournament

The DSU Volleyball team returned home to Dover after 10 consecutive neutral/road matches today as they completed the first day of the DSU Tournament.  The Hornets won both of their matches over Fairleigh Dickinson (3-0; 25-19, 25-18, 25-23) and Norfolk State (3-1; 25-27, 25-12, 25-20, 25-23) to improve to 5-7 on the season.

 

Against FDU, it was the Hornets’ proficiency on offense that got the job done.  As a team, they tallied a .373 attack percentage and 37 kills.  Individually, Cassandra Joyner and Elisa Hermann each registered eight kills to lead the team.  Joyner also tallied 11 digs to lead the defense.  S Martina Ferrari registered 15 assists to the lead the winning effort.

 

In the match against NSU, It was the again the flow of the offense that kept the Hornets moving.  As a team they registered 57 kills, and 46 assists.  Joyner again led the team with 18 kills, while Ferrari registered an astounding 30 assists. 

 

Tomorrow, The Hornets will face Wagner, at 12 p.m. to wrap up the 2008 Delaware State Tournament.
