Coppin State University freshman Naomi Tanui and University of Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Amon Kiprotich were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Tanui (Fr., Elooret, Kenya) captured the individual title and set a course record at the Cappy Anderson Invitational, hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore. The freshman completed the 5K course in 18:03.49, becoming the first Coppin State female runner to win an individual title since the 1998 season.
Kiprotich (So., Kapsabet, Kenya) led Maryland Eastern Shore with a time 25:45.47 at the Cappy Anderson Invitational. Kiprotich paced his team to a third place finish out of eight teams on the 8K course.

Jennifer Chichester (NSU) took home second place honors at the Cappy Anderson Invite with a time of 18:04.88.
Daniel Edmund (HAM) paced the Pirates with a time of 27:44.33 at the Cappy Anderson Invitational.
Merrecia James (UMES) finished fourth and led her team to a third place finish with a time of 18:18.10 at the Cappy Anderson Invitational.
Kenya Jones (HAM) led the Lady Pirates with a fifth place time of 18:44.04 at the Cappy Anderson Invitational.
Mallory Ross (DSU) was the top finisher for the Lady Hornets with a time of 20:12.00 at the Delaware Invitational.
Kelly Thibou (DSU) finished the 8K course at the Delaware Invitational with at time of 28:18.00.
