MEAC Announces Volleyball Weekly Honors

University of Maryland Eastern Shore senior Christina Estebane’ was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. Teammate Christine Edwards earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

 

Estebane’ (5-6, Sr., El Paso, Texas) recorded 14 kills, four aces and 36 digs while averaging a hitting percentage of .213 at the Hawthorn Suites Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational. The setter tallied 110 assists in three matches and was named to the Hawthorn Suites Hokie Invitational All-Tournament team.

 

Edwards (5-10, Fr., Lakewood, California) hit 39-of-100 (.220) from the floor in 12 sets at the Hawthorn Suites Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational.  The outside hitter served 11 aces, posted seven blocks and notched 14 digs to help the Lady Hawks to a 1-2 mark last week.

 

Other Top Performers:

 

Jovana Blazeski (Florida A&M) recorded a match-high 23 kills and 18 digs in a win over Stetson, while earning All-Tournament honors at the Florida State Invitational.

 

Bria Brimmer (South Carolina State) was named to the Tiny Laster Memorial Invitational All-Tournament team after posting 14 kills, 20 digs, and 105 assists in four matches played.

 

Aaryn Harrison (Hampton) tallied 26 kills and averaged a hitting percentage of .279 (21-of-43) in a 3-2 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson.

 

Adriana Vazquez (Hampton) hit 13-of-27(.333) and added eight digs in a 3-2 non-conference loss to South Carolina State.
