The MEAC announces the hiring of Julius Small as its Director of Marketing and Corporate Partnerships.
“We are pleased to have Mr. Small join us as our Director of Corporate Partnerships and Marketing,” said Commissioner Dennis Thomas. “We feel that he brings energy and enthusiasm and a determination to continue to expose and broaden the MEAC brand to Corporate America.”
Small’s responsibilities will include directing, coordinating and implementing sports promotional activities to maximize the MEAC brand as well as increase ticket sales for all conference championships and the MEAC Basketball Tournament. He will also work hand-in-hand with Miles Ahead Entertainment to be the sole representatives for the MEAC in negotiating corporate sponsorship deals, securing advertising revenue and creating and implementing marketing programs.
In addition, Small will serve the liaison to the conference’s Marketing and Alumni Directors.
A Durham, North Carolina native, Small comes to the MEAC after serving as Coordinator at the Artistic Control Group/Mauldin Brand Agency. In this post, he assisted departments such as Operations Strategies and Internship Training & Development. Small was responsible for brand marketing and artist management and assisted Michael Mauldin, the CEO and President of Maudlin Brand Agency, in various capacities.
During his work with the Mauldin Brand Agency, Small served as the Tour Assistant Coordinator for SCREAMFEST ’07 Tour, starring musical acts such as T.I., Ciara, T-Pain, and Yung Joc. His responsibilities ranged from corporate sponsorship activations for tour sponsors AT&T, XM Radio and Truth, to serving as the liaison for Atlantic Records.
Small earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Hampton University in 2003 and a master’s degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industry from the Frost Graduate School of Music at the University of Miami in 2005. He has been awarded the High Honor of Eagle Scout.
He is single and currently resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
