Norfolk State University sophomore Jennifer Chichester and Norfolk State sophomore Josef Tessema were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Chichester (So., Silver Spring, Maryland) led the Spartans with a fifth place finish at the Baltimore Metro Meet hosted by Towson University. The sophomore completed the 5K course with a time of 18:45, which was just 26 seconds off of the course record. This is the second consecutive week that Chichester has earned Cross Country Athlete of the Week accolades.
Tessema (So., Springfield, Virginia) finished with a time of 26:46.82 at the University of Virginia Lou Onesty Invitational. Tessema was first among NSU runners in the 8K race, helping his team to a fifth place finish.
Other Top Performers:
Brittney Stewart (South Carolina State) finished 44th out of 248 competitors with a time of 19:50 in the 5K run at the USC-Upstate Invite.
Charles Kurgatt (South Carolina State) paced the Bulldogs with a time of 30:47 at the USC-Upstate Invite.
