FAMU Falls To Seminoles, 3-0

The Florida A&M Volleyball team dropped their season opener to cross-town rival Florida State 3-0 (13-25, 15-25, 16-25), Friday night at Lucy McDaniel Court.

 

FSU (1-0) jumped out a 6-2 lead in game one, the Lady Rattlers would rally to cut the Lady Noles’ lead 10-5.  FAMU could only manage seven more points before bowing out of game one 25-13.

 

It was bit of the same action in game two as FSU would strike quickly with a 5-2 lead off a Stephanie Neville service ace.  FAMU would make push as they cut FSU’s lead to 17-10 on a Jovanna Blazeski kill. But the Lady Noles would go on to win game two, 25-15.

 

In game three, FAMU and FSU would trade points before, Lady Noles’ Stephanie Neville and Jourdan Price would record back-to-back kills giving FSU a 6-3 lead. 

 

The Lady Rattlers would record back-to-back to kills by Maria Gomez to cut the Lady Noles’ lead to 8-5.

 

A  FAMU service error and a pair of attack errors would increase FSU’s lead to 11-5.

 

The Lady Rattlers cut the Lady Noles’ lead to 19-15 on kills by Susan Egoavil and Samara Ferraz, before FAMU would bow out 25-16.

 

FAMU (0-1) was led by Jovanna Blazeski with 13 kills and 10 digs, while Egoavil led the team in assists with 26.

 

FSU was paced by Brianna Barry with 10 kills, whereas   Nikki Baker finished with a  game high 36 assists.

 

The Lady Rattlers will return to action tomorrow in a doubleheader taking on Bowling Green at 10 a.m. and then Stetson at 4 p.m. at Lucy Daniel Court.
