The Hampton University Lady Pirates and the Norfolk State Spartans softball teams will be featured on a national stage when they face off tomorrow on ESPNU. ESPNU will televise the first game of the doubleheader, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m. at the NSU Softball Field.
The softball matchup marks the third consecutive season the MEAC has televised a softball game on the college sports network. NSU hosted Florida A&M last year, defeating the Lady Rattlers in the doubleheader (2-0 and 1-0).
The defending regular-season champion Lady Pirates sit atop of the northern division with a 26-15 overall record and 9-2 mark in conference play. The Spartans are currently 4-8 in the South with a 16-29 overall record.
The 2008 MEAC Softball Championship Tournament gets underway May 8-10 at the Ormond Bach Sports Complex, 700 Hull Road in Ormond Bach, Florida. Admission is $3 for children, students and seniors and $5 for adults.
ESPNU is available on Cox Digital Cable channel 232, DirecTV channel 609, and the Dish Network on channel 148. For additional viewing options contact your local cable provider.
