MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY SOFTBALL HONORS

 Delaware State first baseman Jessica Chrabaszez earned MEAC Softball Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday. Liz Parrish of Bethune-Cookman earned Rookie of the Week accolades while Ky Brown of Norfolk State earned the Pitcher of the Week honors.

Chrabaszez (1B, 5-8, Sr., Johnston, RI) batted .470 at the plate, totaling two home runs, four doubles, and 10 RBI. She hit a grand slam in an 11-6 win over Maryland E. Shore. She also posted 45 total putouts to help the Lady Hornets finish the week with a 5-1 mark.

Parrish (C/UT, 5-3, Fr., South Dayton, Fla.) finished the week with a .571 batting average. She hit 4-for-7 with one RBI from the plate in three games against N.C. A&T. Defensively she posted nine putouts and one assist.

Brown (P, 5-6, Jr., Woodsfield, Ohio) pitched four shutout innings and only allowed one hit to earn the win in game one of the doubleheader against Maryland E. Shore. For the week Brown recorded a 0.70 ERA with five strike outs in 10 innings.


Other Top Performers

Angela Balser (HAM) was perfect in game one of the doubleheader against N. C. Central finishing 2-for-2 with one home run and one triple.

Rebecca Barnes (NSU) led the Spartans with a .636 batting average including a perfect 6-for-6 hitting performance in a doubleheader against Maryland E. Shore to help NSU finish 2-2 last week.

Amanda Black (HAM) posted three wins with a 3.00 ERA including 13 strikeouts while allowing only one walk.

Tangala Conover (NCAT) finished the week with a .529 batting average including one home run, one double and four RBI.

Bonnie Heineken (UMES) hit .571 with three RBI and 14 assists in dual roles as pitcher and infielder for the Lady Hawks.

Karlana Ingram (MSU) batted .500 with one double and three RBI to help the Lady Bears secure the victory against Winston-Salem State.

Jennifer Luper (NCAT) went 2-1 last week with a 3.85 ERA pitching 20 innings and striking out six batters.

Christina Trimble (B-CU) batted .636 with one home run, one triple, two doubles and six RBI to aid the Lady Wildcats to a 2-1 mark against N.C. A&T last week.

Mishayla Truttman (UMES) went 2-for-4 (.500) in game two of a double header against Delaware State including one double and three RBI.
